Twr y Felin and Roch Castle listed in The Sunday Times Ultimate 100 British Hotels 2016
The annual Sunday Times Ultimate 100 British Hotels have been revealed for 2016, with both Twr y Felin and Roch Castle making the cut. Twr y Felin Hotel is listed in the Romantic Category, whilst Roch Castle features on the Seaside list and with just three of the 100 hotels chosen located in Wales, the achievement is a significant one.
The Sunday Times writes of Twr y Felin Hotel:
"Way out west, St Davids has a coastline made for romantic windswept walks. Afterwards, head for the refuge of this 200 - year old windmill, reborn as a sexy, arty hotel. The public areas are darkly dramatic and dominated by striking contemporary paintings of the area, while the 21 bedrooms are softened by grey furnishings and sea views".
And of Roch Castle:
"This Norman fortress is grafted onto a volcanic outcrop, and a rugged chunk of its pint-tinged stone thrusts into the reception hall- a dramatic contrast to the otherwise smooth white walls and sleek black furniture. The six bedrooms share a minimalist look and have views worth fighting over: St Brides Bay beckons one way, the Preseli Hills the other. The best prospect, though, is from the glass-box Sun Room - down to Newgale, one of the finest beaches in Wales. In five minutes, you can be sinking your ties into sand as soft as clotted cream, which stretches for more than two miles - or taking on the Atlantic rollers".
Twr y Felin and Roch Castle are part of a trio of luxury independent hotels and exclusive stay properties in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, the other being Penrhiw Hotel, St Davids.
